What do little brown bats look like?

The little brown bat is a common type of bat to find in and around homes throughout North America and right here in Colorado. As their name suggests, they are small bats, usually weighing less than half an ounce and with a wingspan up to 11 inches.

Little brown bats have dark brown fur with some grayish undertones.

Are little brown bats dangerous?

Though they are not aggressive in nature, little brown bats are still considered dangerous because they can carry and transmit rabies. In addition to the risk that comes with bat bites, histoplasmosis is also a concern whenever bat droppings accumulate.

Because of the health hazards associated with bats, only professional wildlife control technicians should remove bats from homes and businesses.

Why do I have a bat problem?

Little brown bats eat insects and so it only makes sense for them to roost in areas where insects are plentiful. Common roosting sites include under rocks, in woodpiles, in trees, and under roof eaves. Unfortunately, if your home or structure is in close proximity to food and water sources and has any gaps or openings on the exterior, you could end up with a bat infestation.

How do you get rid of bats?

If you are having problems with bats in and around your home contact the bat control experts at EnviroPest today. Our wildlife control division knows just what to do to humanely remove bats from your home or your business. For bat control in Loveland, Denver or elsewhere in Colorado, EnviroPest is the ideal choice.

Is the treatment for bats safe?

Our treatment protocol for bats does not pose a risk to people or pets. In most cases we start by installing a device that allows bats to leave but does not permit them to re-enter.

After bats have been evicted, we make sure they can’t come back by sealing up any potential entry points. We’ll also clean up guano and other damage caused by bats to eliminate any risk to your family.

How soon can you get here?

Bat problems are a very serious issue and a pest problem we don’t take lightly. We make every effort to respond as soon as possible. In many cases we can be there on the same or very next day.

How much does bat control cost and is there a warranty?

Cost varies by pest and severity as well as other factors. Our wildlife control team will be able to offer more information on pricing after your bat problem is evaluated. Please contact us for more information.

Warranty varies due to the severity and possibility of control. Your service technician will discuss this with you before service.

How can I prevent a bat problem in the future?

To prevent bats from invading your home or business, our wildlife control experts recommend:

  • Reducing or eliminating food (i.e. bugs) and water sources.
  • Sealing any openings along the roofline or elsewhere on the exterior of the structure. This includes around doors and windows, vents, and holes where utilities enter.
  • Keeping entry doors, garage doors and windows closed when not in use and installing screens whenever possible.
  • Make sure to seal cracks and crevices that are found in your home’s foundation, siding, and around exterior windows and doors.
  • Build garden and compost areas a good distance away from your home.
  • Fix any water leaks both inside and outside of the dwelling. This includes leaky appliances and pipes.
  • Correct moisture issues by running a dehumidifier or fixing any ventilation problems.
